Make up a chart for the four actors and columns for A (assistant), V (victim) and W (witness).

Joanne W - W - W

Clue 2 tells us that Joanna was the youngest in the troupe. The youngest person and the victim were of different sexes so the victim is male. We also know that the witness and the assistant were of different sexes.

From deductions we can establish that Violet was the murderess assisted by Bob and Dave was the victim.
